Nykøbing Falster

Sunday afternoon we had a visit from Svante. He had read our blog, had an errand in the area and took the opportunity to pass by. Nice surprise to visit on the trip and great to meet again.

Sunday night it was thunderstorm. When it ended, the wind (as predicted) went west. We were still lying with the bow to the east. Now it was our turn to ruin the night's sleep by small waves that were patted against the thigh by the strong westerly wind.

Late in the afternoon the sun came out. It got warmer, the wind took off and all of a sudden we were back in the summer mood.

The weather forecast said the wind Tuesday would refresh over 10m / s in the afternoon. We therefore decided to leave only in the morning.

It was blowing well when we went under the old Storestrømsbro and for a couple of hours we "knocked poles" against the sharp waves and the oncoming current.

When we reached a buoy south of Femø, we changed course by almost 90 degrees and headed directly down towards Guldborg Sound. Now we got wind, waves and current with us, set some sails and felt like we were almost flying away.

Just before the Guldbergsund bridge we called the bridge guard at the VHF and asked him to open the bridge.

- No problem, he replied and added, we are ashamed to be back from the summer holidays.

Shortly afterwards, we glided in solitary majesty through the opened bridge and into Guldborg Sund, where we enjoyed the silence and the beautiful scenery.

Late in the afternoon we visited the harbor in Nykøbing Falster and easily found a good place.

Nice to see how you slowly approach the European continent. We are looking forward to continuing the process, and see when the rig is being peeled off. Still good trip
