Burgtiefe

In the evening we decided to take advantage of the next day's fine weather forecast to sail to Fehmarn in Germany.

Just over nine we left Nykøbing Falster. The waterfront has been modernized in recent years. Now there are nice newly built properties with delicious apartments, shops and restaurants. There is even room for a brand new cinema. 

When we had passed Frederik IX's bridge, we sailed out into a narrow channel that winds through the beautiful flat landscape.

The marking is close and easy to follow, but there is a cash settlement in the form of a grounding if you should decide to "cut a corner."

After a couple of hours we walked through the wind farm next to Rødby and when we passed the last windmill we turned on the autopilot and had lunch. 

The Fehmarn Belt can be bissed, but today showed off its gentle side with sun, heat, light wind, no waves and almost no traffic.

After lunch I emailed to Bob's Werft in Travemünde. 

Shortly afterwards, received an offer from a Conny Grube for the decommissioning of the mast on Tuesday next week. 

When we reached Fehmarn we sailed along the coast to Burgtiefe, a nicely large and modern marina surrounded by a lot of holiday hotels and apartments. The island is Germany's third largest and was part of the Danish kingdom until 1864. It was mixed here where Jimi Hendrix played his last concert a few days before his death in September 1970. 

We again easily found a good spot and should be in Travemünde by Monday afternoon, where Heron should be ready for canal sailing.
