Orlov

In 3 weeks we will start a leave of just over a year.

The master plan is to sail on Europe's canal and river system to the Mediterranean, spend the winter on the boat or rent a house in southern Spain, sail home during the next summer or leave the boat in the Mediterranean

We have not yet set a departure date, but we think we will leave in mid-August.

We have decided to rent out the house while we are away, and have entered into an agreement with the company Nordic Housing, which will find some hopefully good tenants and also be in charge of the administrative work with the rental.

We are both unbearably excited.

We think we have prepared well, but have no idea what we are going to do and have a lot of questions that we may or may not get an answer to.

Right now we are preparing the house for rent.

Yesterday I filled 7 large plastic bags with papers collected over many years - annual accounts tax case, management presentations, information memoranda, presentations, due diligence reports, main tasks, health reports, job applications etc etc - was shredded hard and gave the room what Pia calls Feng Sui .

A few papers remained - including my employment contract with Privatbanken from 1984, which states, among other things

It is also expected that the employee, both inside and outside the bank, will show behavior similar to what you expect from an employee of a reputable bank. 

We once discussed the meaning of a Friday afternoon at the bank.

Our young boss broke into the conversation. He was young and very impressed with how far he had come in the system, which he himself attributed to his intellect and flair for the political game.

- For example, he explained with an important face, there was once a bank clerk who was in a porn movie - and when the management found out he smoked out right on the spot, he quit and looked around triumphantly.

Short break after which I asked

- How did the management actually find out that he had been in a porn movie?

… I never became such a real banker
