The next morning we said goodbye to our good English neighbors.
We sailed the last 12km on Mittelland Canal and turned to the backboard on the Dortmund-Ems Canal.
The Dortmund-Ems canal, which opened in 1899, is 265km long, stretches from Dortmund to Emden and is used for freight between the Ruhr area and the North Sea.
After a few hours we called Klaus - Hafenmeister for the marina Alte Fahrt Fuestrup. He welcomed us and stated that with our depth of 1,5m we could easily be in the harbor.
Well moored in the marina we found out that there is neither WiFi nor 3G in the area. Surt. We needed a good internet connection to plan our trip to Copenhagen on Tuesday.
Out again and another 3/4 hour sailing and a lock before we headed to Monastaria Marina in Münster.
Here we were received by a Swedish couple - Mats and Irene. They had sailed from Stockholm to Berlin, had given up going to Prague because there was too little water in the canal system and were home once in a while to visit children and grandchildren. They really wanted to go to the Mediterranean, but had been accompanied by a Dutch boat for a few days and had felt like spending some time in Holland.
They were just about to sail when we entered. We agreed that we would probably meet later and exchange phone numbers and Facebook profiles.
In the evening there was a party in the clubhouse.
The birth attendant a 60-year-old teacher at an institution for the integration of refugees had invited over 150 guests.
The party went well and we fell asleep to the musical touches the guests presented.
