Mañana (the end)

When we got to the 30th of November, we thought it would probably be a good idea to talk to Octavio (the estate agent) so that we wouldn't be put on the street because of a misunderstanding.

We went down to his business. It is a few minutes' walk from the apartment. It was closed. The windows were covered with brown paper from top to bottom. But you could still see the sign stating that English, German, Italian and French were spoken here.

. Hmmm something could indicate that Abbadi was telling the truth

We had almost just got back to the apartment when an email ticked in from Saray – Octavio's assistant and gorgeous 15-year-old clone of Gloria from the Netflix series Modern Family.

She just wanted to know if we moved today. If not, we would have to pay rent as soon as possible. We immediately called her. No answer. Then we sent an SMS. No answer either. Finally we sent an email. Still no reaction.

Strange

We went down to the cafe on the ground floor. We could not see Abbadi anywhere and asked for Abbadi - "the owner". A younger lady came out of the kitchen and introduced herself as the proprietor. She knew nothing of an Abbadi, our tenancy, or an Anna.

… Hmmm was it Octavio (the real estate agent) who was telling the truth anyway?

“Oh you mean the Boss” exclaimed a young man who had listened to our conversation with great interest.

“… Ah el Patron” said the younger female proprietor, adding smiling “Abbi”.

. Hmmm now something could again indicate that Abbadi (or rather Abbi) was telling the truth.

The young man said that Abbi was at her second café. It was not far away. We could accompany him there.

On the way there we met Abbi. He said that he was busy right now, that we could meet at the café at 7.30 and that Saray would also be there.

Exactly at 7.30 we entered Den Søde Tand - Abbi's second café. No Abbi. We sat down at a table and asked for el Patron.

A quarter of an hour later, Abbi showed up and greeted "welcome" in sounding Norwegian. "Saray will be here at 8.00" he continued in English. “But this is Spain and she won´t be here before 8.30”

While we were waiting for Saray we talked to Abbi.

He said he was from western Algiers, had lived in Helsinki and Oslo, but preferred to live in Alicante because, as he said, “In Alicante people smile at you. "

A little after nine, Saray finally appeared. She said that it was Abbi who had the contact with the owner of the apartment and that it was ok that the payment went through him.

We arranged the payment with Abbi, said goodbye to Saray, who had just started an internship in the administration at the Police and ended the day with super dinner at a Greek restaurant Abbi had recommended us.
