Hi Klaus,

Thank you for your message.

Well, let's finally meet when we have the opportunity.

How long are you staying in Spain?

Thank you for bringing us others into your dreams ... we dream and enjoy your stories.
We are ready to go on our own in 2022, and are well underway with the improvements (and savings) Do you want to share a little about the financials of sailing around the Mediterranean ... what does it typically cost to stay in a port in Italy and Greece? Do you think it is difficult to be wise at what a port space costs, find prices from 20-100 Euro on the net ... Maybe there is just this variation in prices ..?
Hope you soon have the opportunity to continue the dream. Looking forward to new stories

Thanks for the nice words.

Exciting that you are planning a trip. (You can enjoy yourself)

For us, port money has been a nice part of the cost of sailing in the Mediterranean.

MEN

when it is said (or rather written), it must be added that we as Danes also sail as Danes. That is, we go to port every night. Many others are at anchor. Some only to supply and bunker water and diesel and then spend the night at anchor. Others go to port maybe a couple of times a week and spend the rest of the week at anchor.

Prices vary from country to country, from port to port, but also within the year.

Of the three countries we visited, the most expensive was Italy. Greece the cheapest, while France was slightly cheaper than Italy.

A small impression of the price variation:

In Porto Rotondo in the Northeast Sardine, a port site for Heron costs € 218 per day in August (Yes you read right). € 142 in July, € 65 in June and September € 35 in May, € 18 in April and € 8 from October to March.

Typically, the price in Italy is around € 60 - 90 per day during peak season and slightly lower in France.

In Greece the price is € 20- 25 per day in the municipal ports and € 50- 60 per day in the private (here is also a great comfort).

We recommend downloading the app "NAVILY". Here you can enter data on your boat and get the port fees per day in most ports in France and Italy and a few in Greece. You can also (free) book a place, which may well be necessary in high season. The app also has an excellent overview of anchorages and user comments and weather forecasts (wind and waves) for each site.

The port fees in the canals are low. Typically € 8-12 per day. But you can also lie for free at a resting place, of which there are many in Germany, Holland, Belgium and France.

Hope this answers your question. Of course, feel free to ask for more.

Greeting

Carl & Pia

Hi Heron!

We are a family of 4 sailing in the Mediterranean for the 3rd year. Right now we are in Spain. In the spring we will sail back to Italy and on to Greece. When autumn sets in, the plan is to land the boat (Hallberg Rassy Monsun 31). I have followed along a bit in your journey and can see you standing on land on Corfu.

Was it a good and safe experience for your boat, and what prices do they work with at the yard?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hey Peter,

We are on land at Cara Yachts in the small town of Plataria. It is located on the mainland a few and twenty miles southeast of Gouvia Marina. We are four Danish boats standing on land there this winter. The yard leases a crane for pick-up and handles transport from the dock to the boatyard (about 200 meters) and storage on the boatyard. A Parklev trailer is used for transport and PARKUP EVO (steel racks) for storage. The seats (there are two) are monitored. We pay DKK 12.500 all inclusive (ie picking up, launching and space rent) until October 2020. The yard is owned and operated by an Irishman (Mike), who is assisted in the administration by his daughter Niahm.

We were very pleased with the Gouvia Marina in Corfu. But overwintering here cost $ 10.000 more than at Cara Yachts. On the other hand, getting to and from Plataria is a little more difficult and there are not as good service and repair workshops as at Gouvia Marina. (It's really good here)

... all in all, we feel comfortable having left our home at Cara Yachts in Plataria
