Goodbye

In the evening we cleaned the boat for shelter and ordered a taxi to drive us to the station.

The taxi was already in place when we locked us out of the marina early next morning. After 10 minutes we were on the Münster West Hauptbahnhof.

10 hours later we walked in the door at Daniel & Emilie in Nørrebro in Copenhagen.

Pretty quick scene changes after spending a little month traveling the opposite way.

The next day we were at Dorte's funeral.

St. John's Church on St. Hans's Square was filled to the point of breaking.

Morten spoke to Dorte, thanked him for the 37 1/2 years they had spent together and the 3 children they had brought into the world and in whom he could see her now more than before. The sermon was given by Hans Henrik, the priest in Humlebæk. He talked about the brutal process Dorte and the family had been through, her life and personality and how unfair life can also appear to be.

After the funeral, there was a gathering in Atelier 1B - a room where gastronomic events are offered for companies and individuals.

Dorte was director of gastronomic innovation, which has a wide network of contacts for Danish chefs. Many of them had attended the funeral and some of them were in charge of the treatment.

Oysters and delicate dishes were eaten, drunk champagne, good wines and draft beer, hugged, cried, laughed, cared and talked about Dorte for many, many hours.

A farewell, the orchestra of Dorte in her last time, truly reminded and honored her.

We were back at the hotel in the evening.

Exhausted and touched after a long day, we postponed our journey back to the boat by one day.
